This system included a mesh deck that filters could be drained on before being put into a precrusher. The precrusher was designed to not only crush the filters, but to extract as much oil from them at the same time. Once crushed, the filters were packed into a specialty container that allowed any remaining oil to drain out through a specialized base plate and collect into a catch basin.

Collected oil was then pumped to waste drums where it could be recycled and the crushed oil filters, now without oil, were taken directly to the landfill. Then railroad saved thousands of dollars annually in waste costs because they reduced the hazardous waste in their process. The hazardous waste now became a recycled material. What truly makes this system unique is the fact that all of the oil is contained. For this customer, that was a major concern as EPA officials are onsite often.
